Netgear Configuration

Please Note: These are the connection settings for UK Broadband accounts only

  1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer/Firefox) and type in the web address 192.168.0.1
  2. The username to enter is: admin
    The password to enter is: password
  3. On the left hand side of this screen, there is a Menu List.
  4. Click on Basic Settings.
  5. For the first question, Yes should be selected as your connection will require a login (this is usually the default answer).
  6. Encapsulation needs to have a setting of PPPoA (PPP over ATM) VC-MUX,
  7. Enter your broadband username and then enter your broadband password (see user details which should have been already provided),
  8. Scroll down to the bottom of this screen and click on Apply button.
  9. After a short period, the Basic Settings are applied and you should see these updating.
  10. Once this has completed, you need to then click on ADSL Settings (again over on the Menu List found on left hand side) and on the new screen you need to make sure the following settings are in place:
  11. Multiplexing Method: VC-Based
    VPI: 0
    VCI: 38
  12. Click on Apply again and allow for a few moments to apply.
  13. After a short period of time, you should see the DSL light come back on solid and shortly after, the Internet light should light up. This indicates that your Netgear router is connected to the Internet.
